Ned is very concerned about the lateness of his bedtime snack
I’d be lying if I said this was a particularly productive day in terms of the book. I made some edits, but it’s difficult to concentrate when you’re exhausted. Not that it was the book that was causing me to fall asleep; I know this, because I closed the document and tried to watch Stephen Colbert, and I kept falling asleep sitting up.
You’re probably thinking, “Okay, genius, if you were that tired, why didn’t you just go to bed?” The answer is that I still have things to do. The cats need meds and bedtime snacks (especially important for Ned, who will wake me at 6:00 a.m. for food if his snack isn’t substantial enough). I also need to scoop the litter boxes. And at least equal in importance to these was that I really did want to do at least a little more work on the book.
So I did. Not a lot, but I added an important bit of foreshadowing and polished the pre-existing part of that scene. My hope is to devote substantial time tomorrow night and over the weekend to crafting the remaining missing scenes so that by Monday, it’ll be a matter of editing what’s on the page rather than adding new material.
That would be nice. Really, really nice.
