To be honest, I’m not certain at this point which is doing more to keep me going: the book, the challenge, or you folks who are reading and following and liking these posts. Personally, I think it’s all three.
Without this combo, it would have been easy to take the night off. I know I keep talking about being exhausted, but today I really was. After church, I ran a couple errands and got home with the intention of taking a short nap. I didn’t even bother with lunch; I just went to lie down.
That was 12:50 p.m. I woke up at 3:30 p.m. Just in time to get everything ready to take dinner to Mom, which meant so much for the evening.
If I’d been awake this afternoon, I’d have vacuumed the living room and mopped the kitchen floor. I’d have scooped the litter boxes and taken out the trash for tomorrow’s pickup. I might even have put away the laundry. But I did none of this, which meant I probably should have done it (or at least some of it) tonight.
But instead, I wrote.
I went back to the scene I drafted the other night and fleshed out last night. I edited and added, and I deleted language that was already in the main draft so I could insert the new material. I smoothed out one end of the transition.
I made progress.
The kitchen floor still needs to be washed. The living room rugs still need to be vacuumed. The trash still need to go out for pickup.
But still, I wrote.
Thanks, everybody. Your support means the world to me.
P.S. If anybody wants to vacuum the living room rug, let me know.
Get a bot to vacuum! k

I have a Roomba. Unfortunately, it requires a lot of care and supervision, including picking up all the cat toys and moving furniture to allow it travel freely, frequent emptying of the bin and saying, “No, you’re actually NOT done” and restarting it. Half the time it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

Many years ago, someone told me that life happens and as long as the health department isn’t banging on your door, just be careful not to trip on the dusty rug. It will still be there when the book is done, your Mom hires a personal chef, and self scooping litter boxes for dirt cheap are delivered to your door.
