Another day of working on my novel. I started with some dictated material, but the scene went off in a different direction than I’d originally anticipated, laying the groundwork for complications I hadn’t seen coming.

One surprising turn this book has taken is how minor characters from the first are becoming major ones this time. Characters who had little or no time on stage in the first book are now showing up and having their say. While I have a vague idea of how things will turn out, my original notion doesn’t include these people at all, which raises the question of whether the story will end up being even close to my first thoughts.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
